Double roles formula of Bollywood never goes out of style. It doesn’t only the show the range of an actor, but enhances the entertainment value of the movie. It hooks the viewers, as they root for their favourite character. Here is a list of Bollywood movies in which Bollywood actors played double roles.

1. Don (1978)

Amitabh Bachchan has immortalized the characters of Don and Vijay. He played the role of an infamous don and an ordinary young man in the movie. Don (1978) became one of the biggest hits of Bollywood. In fact, Shahrukh Khan worked in its remake. But no movie can beat Amitabh Bachchan’s Don when it comes to songs, action and chase scenes. It was a movie ahead of its time. People still like to watch Don on a good summery day and cheer for the good-hearted Vijay, as he makes his way into the underworld.


2. Judwaa

Judwaa is spiced up by uproarious humour.  Salman Khan is playing the character of Raja, a rowdy, and Prem Malhotra, a well-behaved man. Raja and Prem are twin brothers who were separated at birth. Judwaa is a journey of these twin brothers and how they get involved in some hilariously bizarre situations. In fact, the twin connection is shown in a strangely comic way. Grab your popcorn and watch the movie for a good laugh!


3. Om Shanti Om

Om Shanti Om is a good revenge drama. Karz has subtly inspired the basic theme of the movie. Shahrukh played the role of a struggling actor, Om Prakash Makhija whereas Deepika Padukone starred in the role of an infamous actress, Shanti Priya. The movie casts both of them in double roles. Shahrukh Khan does every role flawlessly, but it is Deepika Padukone who takes the cake in this movie. It was Deepkia Padukone’s first movie, and she played both the roles nicely. When the movie was premiered, we knew that she was a black horse.


4. Duplicate

It seems like Shahrukh Khan loves double roles. ‘Duplicate’ as the name suggests, has Shahrukh Khan playing two roles. One is a decent man, Bablu Chaudhary while the other is a dangerous criminal, Manu. The movie is hilarious with enough twists and turns to keep your eyes fixated on the TV screen. There are very few movies which blend entertainment, songs and action scenes perfectly. Duplicate is one of them.


5. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Tanu Weds Manu Returns was one of the highest grossers of 2015. Kangana Ranaut won a National award for her portrayal of outgoing Tanu and Haryanavi girl, Kusum. We cannot imagine any other actress playing these roles with as much ease as Kangana did. She grasped the Haryanvi accent marvellously, and made us fall in love with Kusum. Entertaining songs, a funny cast and a good storyline make it a superb movie.
