Bollywood Songs That are Blatant Lifts: Part 2

There is no originality left.

In this part, we are going to further discuss the songs that have been directly copied by our Bollywood music directors. It’s a shame that in a country of such large population, the people who are at the top are not original or creative enough. And they are very sly in copying foreign language songs, as they make sure that they are not as popular in India as a Taylor Swift or Justin Beiber song. But aren’t they fooling Indians in that way? Here are the Bollywood songs that are blatant lifts. Listen to them and spot the glaring similarities.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – World War Z’s Theme Song

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil created waves in the music industry through its songs. They became instant chartbusters and are still listened incessantly by the people. But do you know that the title song of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is stolen from the famous movie, World War Z?

Bulleya – Last Resort by Papa Roach

This song came into limelight for all the wrong reasons. We cannot ignore the obvious similarities in the music of both the songs. While some people may try to justify it, but no reasoning exists for stealing a song.

Mehbooba O Mehbooba – Say you love me by Demi Roussos

This blockbuster song from Sholay is created by the legendary R.D. Burman. But the sad fact is even he has stolen the music of this song. The issue of plagiarism has been rooted in Bollywood since a long, long time.

Jahan Teri Ye Nazar Hai – Heleh Maali by Zia Atabi

It is disheartening to know that this superhit song is copied. All of us love to hum this old Hindi song even now, but we won’t be able to give it the same respect.

Darling Ankhon Se – Kalinka (Russian Folk Song)

This hooking song from 7 Khoon Maaf is actually stolen from a Russian folk song. When creativity is at zero, music directors resort to stealing prayers and folk songs without giving any credit.

Gila Gila – Thoia Thoing by R Kelly

This Akshay Kumar song got stuck in our mind due to its hypnotizing music. But this music is blatantly lifted from a song by R Kelly. It seems like there is not much originality in Bollywood music industry.

Caller Tune – Sunea Tu Janea Tu from Khokababu

The song, Caller Tune, was quite hit but Sajid Khan was sued by Rishi Chanda, the music director of the Bengali movie, Khokababu. He claimed that the music of caller tune is stolen from Sunea Tu Janea Tu.

Munni Badnam Hui – Ladka Badnam Hua

This blockbuster hit from the movie, Dabangg, is copied from this old Pakistani song, Ladka badnam Hua. It is quite sad to see an item song originating from a simple old song.

Dekha Jo Tujhe Yaar – Sheloha Shela by Miami Band

We have to agree that this song was immensely catchy when it got released, but it’s actually copied from a song by Miami Band. It’s shocking as well as sad to see Bollywood lacking in originality.
