Bollywood has a thing for accents since the dawn of the time. We praise anyone who can speak English in an American or British accent. But as much we Indians like to praise a fluent English speaker, we equally hate terrible accents. Many Bollywood celebrities try to develop a fake accent, but they fail terribly. In fact, some don’t even try to fake any accent because their natural accent is so terrible that it becomes hard to hear them for much long. Here is a list of a few Bollywood celebrities with terrible accents.
Kanagana Ranaut has admitted that when she entered Bollywood, she didn’t know how to speak English. Hailing from a small town, Kangana Ranaut has come a long way. But she has still not quite grasped a clear English accent, and it makes it a bit difficult to understand her at times. But she is representing India at a Global level, so kudos to her! Kangana Ranaut has also revealed that she was insulted for not knowing English. It’s a great success to make your way into Bollywood despite being an outsider, not knowing a language but only having only sheer dedication and passion.
Deepika Padukone’s accent is not up to the mark. It has been proved in her various movies time and again in which she speaks a few lines of English. And her terrible accent is immensely audible in the recent trailer of XXX: The return of Xander Cage. Despite not having fluent English, she has made up for it through her sharp acting skills. Deepika Padukone is loved by everyone. But we just cannot love her accent. Her accent is thick with Tamil influence engulfing it heavily. It would be great if Deepika Padukone take some classes on speaking skills.
Anil Kapoor has left a mark on Hollywood with some great projects like Slumdog Millionaire, Mission: Impossible and 24 (American series). But one thing we can’t get past is Anil Kapoor’s terrible accent. He has tried faking an American accent, but when a man has lived in India for all his life, it’s really difficult to make the tongue accustomed of the American English. Anil Kapoor is trying his best, but we believe that Hindi suits on him better than English. But we hope that he continues to grab good projects in Hollywood and make us Indian proud.
Can Salman Khan beat 50 people? Yes. Can Salman Khan speak fluent English? No. Salman Khan can barely classify as an English-speaking Indian. During many interviews, we have seen him struggling to speak out the right word. There’s no difference in the way he speaks English or Hindi, as they both sound the same.
Priyanka Chopra has been criticized a lot for trying to fake an American accent. Despite the fact the she has been doing great career-wise, her accent has been a source of constant criticism by the Indian public. Maybe, PC should just stick with her Indian accent.
