After the Uri attacks in September, Bollywood has divided into two zones. One group of celebrities believe that Pakistani actors shouldn’t be boycotted neither do they need to condemn the attack. The other group demands the Pakistani celebrities to raise their voice against the terrorism caused by their country. Pakistani celebrities like Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, etc. have been working in Bollywood industry since a long time. They have gained massive fan following in India. So, many people are expecting them to take a firm stance regarding Pakistani terrorists. Let’s take a look at what some Bollywood celebrities have said till now.
1. Salman Khan
Salman Khan came forward in support of Pakistani actors. He said, “They are artists. We have killed the terrorists. Artists are not terrorists. These are two different subjects. They come to our country after acquiring visa, and it’s our government who allows them with the work permit in our country.”
2. Karan Johar
Karan Johar’s movie, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, is releasing soon. It has Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in one of the prominent roles. In an interview, he said, “If this was truly a solution, then one would take it. But this is not a solution. I don’t believe it is. The larger forces have to come together and sort the situation and this cannot be banning talent or art.”
3. Mahesh Bhatt
Mahesh Bhatt posted a picture on twitter that stated, “Dear Leaders, do not let the actions of few violent men write the future of many people, like me who wants peace. #KillTerroristsNotTalks #ProfileforPeace”
4. Om Puri
Om Puri was invited to a debate recently. A question was raised regarding the recent Baramulla attack and a mention was made about 24-year-old Nitin Yadav who sacrificed his life in the attack. Om Puri instantly said, “Who asked such a young guy to join army?” He was also seen in full support of Pakistani actors. He has also given an interview to a Pakistani News Channel where he was seen talking against Shiv Sena and supporting the Pakistani Celebrities.
5. Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “We should be proud of our country. Whatever decision is taken by the Government is correct. Considering the condition right now, and the country due to which such a condition has been caused, no artist from that country should be allowed here.”
6. Anupam Kher
Anupam Kher has clearly stated that the Pakistani actors should condemn terrorism. He also said that no one is asking the Pakistani actors to stand against their country, as it might not be politically correct. But they should at least stand against terrorism.
7. Lata Mangeshkar
Lata Mangeshkar has refused to celebrate her 87th Birthday, as it is the time to mourn over the soldiers who have lost their lives in the terrorist attacks. She said, “Woh khush rahen, shanti se rahen. Aur humen bhi khushi aur shanti se rehne den.” (May they live with peace and happiness. Let us live happily and peacefully, too.)
8. Adnan Sami
Pakistani-born singer, Adnan Sami, has an Indian citizenship now. He said that he is proud of India, and fully support Narendra Modi. Moreover, Pakistan should thank India for finishing terrorism, as Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism as well. And now that their neighbouring country is helping them in getting rid of terrorism, they don’t even want to acknowledge it.
9. Nana Patekar
Nana Patekar said, “Country comes first. Artists are nothing in front of country. There’s nothing above country. I have been in army, so I know that only soldiers are our real heroes.”
