Mary Kom is a story based on the boxer, Mary Kom. She has won World Amateur Boxing Championship five times. Priyanka Chopra did her best to portray the role of Mary Kom. It took Priyanka Chopra 3 months to prepare for the role. She maintained her physique, and learned to play boxing. The movie received critical acclaim, especially Priyanka’s portrayal of Mary Kom. It won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Paan Singh Tomar is a true gem, although a bit underrated as compared to other movies on the list. It’s story which revolves around Paan Singh Tomar, an Indian army soldier, who won a gold medal in Indian National games. He was later forced to choose the life of a decoit in Chambal valley. Irrfan Khan plays the titular role. It is Irrfan Khan’s one of the best performances. He won the National Award for Best Actor. In fact, the movie won the National Award for Best Feature Film.
